A well-established and reputable Accountancy Practice based in Scarborough is currently recruiting for a Bookkeeper to join their growing team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for either an experienced bookkeeper or an ambitious accounts assistant ready to step into a more client-facing, practice-based role.

On offer is a competitive salary of £28,000 – £35,000, depending on experience and qualification, as well as 33 days holiday (including bank holidays), study packages (if applicable), flexible working options and further.
As the Bookkeeper, your role will include (but not be limited to):
Delivering accurate bookkeeping services to a portfolio of clients from a range of industries
Preparing and submitting VAT returns in line with HMRC and MTD requirements
Maintaining accurate ledgers and reconciling bank, sales, and purchase transactions
Using cloud-based software such as Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks to manage client records
Assisting with management accounts and year-end preparation for accountant review
Processing payroll and pension submissions for small business clients (if applicable)
Liaising directly with clients to gather and clarify financial information
Supporting new client onboarding and software setup as needed
Ensuring all work is completed on time and to a high standard
Other ad hoc duties, as requiredTo be successful in this Bookkeeper position, you should ideally have:
Previous experience in a bookkeeping or accounts role, preferably within practice (but industry experience will be considered)
Proficiency in Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software
AAT qualification or working towards (preferred but not essential)
Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
