Job Description

Senior Commercial & Contracts Manager

A successful and well-established engineering and manufacturing business in North Yorkshire is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Commercial & Contracts Manager to join its Commercial team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Offering a competitive salary depending on experience, plus an annual bonus, this is an excellent opportunity to join an innovative manufacturing business supplying technically advanced products into highly regulated industries. The role offers hybrid working, with occasional travel to other UK sites as required.

This is an opportunity for an experienced commercial contracts professional who enjoys negotiating complex agreements, managing commercial risk and partnering with colleagues across a business to ensure strong contractual governance from bid stage through to project delivery.

Working closely with senior stakeholders across Commercial, Procurement and Programme teams, you will play a key role in protecting the commercial interests of the business whilst supporting long-term customer relationships and successful project delivery.

Some of the Senior Commercial & Contracts Manager responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts with customers and suppliers.
  • Managing contracts throughout their lifecycle, from bid and proposal stage through to delivery and completion.
  • Providing commercial support during tender submissions, contract negotiations and customer proposals.
  • Identifying, assessing and mitigating commercial and contractual risk.
  • Acting as the key point of contact for contractual and commercial matters across the business.
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of commercial governance, policies and processes.
  • Working closely with Procurement to ensure contractual requirements are effectively communicated throughout the supply chain.
  • Providing commercially focused advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on contractual obligations and risk.
  • Supporting contractual compliance across regulated customer environments.
  • Building collaborative relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure successful commercial outcomes.

To be successful in the Senior Commercial & Contracts Manager role you will ideally have:

  • Significant experience negotiating and managing complex commercial contracts.
  • Previous experience within engineering, manufacturing or another technical industry.
  • Strong understanding of commercial governance, contract management and contractual risk.
  • Experience supporting bids, tenders and commercial proposals.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to interpret complex contractual documentation and provide commercially sound advice.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Procurement, Programme Management and senior leadership teams.
  • Experience working within regulated industries or with complex contractual frameworks would be advantageous.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships whilst balancing commercial opportunity with contractual risk.

This role offers:

  • Salary up to Β£70,000 depending on experience.
  • Annual bonus.
  • Hybrid working.
  • 37-hour working week.
  • The opportunity to join a respected engineering and manufacturing business with a strong reputation for innovation and quality.
  • A strategic role with genuine autonomy and the opportunity to shape commercial governance and influence business performance.
