Are you NEBOSH qualified and looking for an opportunity to develop your career in Health, Safety and Environment? A well-established business in North Yorkshire is looking for an HSE Advisor to join its team on a temporary basis for 12 months initially. This is a great opportunity to build broad, hands-on HSE experience, working closely with an experienced Quality Manager and getting involved across safety, compliance, training, audits and continuous improvement. You do not need to come from a manufacturing background. If you have a NEBOSH qualification, practical exposure to HSE and are ready to take the next step in your career, we would be keen to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting the day-to-day implementation and continuous improvement of health, safety and environmental standards across the site.
- Carrying out workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments.
- Supporting hazard identification, observations and near-miss reporting.
- Helping coordinate HSE Committee meetings, actions and documentation.
- Supporting HSE training and awareness activities.
- Maintaining risk assessments, training records, JSAs and compliance documentation.
- Helping ensure policies, procedures and working practices meet HSE requirements.
- Supporting contractor HSE documentation and monitoring.
- Producing HSE reports and assisting with data analysis.
- Supporting incident, near-miss and non-conformance investigations.
- Helping track corrective actions through to completion.
- Supporting the control and distribution of PPE.
- Contributing to wider HSE and quality records and continuous improvement activity.
What you'll need
- NEBOSH certification is essential for this position, alongside a good understanding of occupational health and safety management systems.
- A NEBOSH qualification.
- Practical knowledge of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Some hands-on exposure to HSE within an operational, industrial or similarly safety-focused environment.
- Confidence interpreting and following HSE policies and procedures.
- Good Microsoft Office skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively with people across different areas of a business.
- A proactive, organised approach and willingness to continue developing your HSE knowledge.
- Experience or knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, PUWER, LOLER, CDM, internal auditing or HSE compliance systems would be useful, but these are desirable rather than essential.
The opportunity
This is a fully site-based position in North Yorkshire, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You'll join a small team and work closely with an experienced Quality Manager, giving you the opportunity to broaden your practical HSE knowledge and take on responsibility across a varied range of activities. The position is initially offered as a temporary PAYE assignment for up to 12 months, with the potential for a longer-term opportunity for the right person.
