CNC Operator - Permanent Nights
Location: Near Kirkbymoorside
Salary: £17.92ph initially, rising to £18.65ph + £50 per night shift
Earning Potential: Circa £49,000 once established on nights
Hours: Monday to Thursday only
We are recruiting an experienced CNC Operator to join an established manufacturing business, initially working days before moving onto a permanent Monday to Thursday night shift.
This is not a trainee CNC position, so you will need previous hands-on CNC machining experience. The initial six-month period on days will allow you to become familiar with the company's machines, processes and products while completing your probation, before moving permanently onto nights.
Hours & PayInitial 6-month period - Days
- Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 5:30pm
- 40 paid hours per week
- £17.92 per hour
- Approximately £35,974 annual equivalent
- Familiarisation with company machinery, products and processes alongside your probationary period
Following successful completion of the initial period - Permanent Nights
- Monday to Thursday, 8:30pm - 7:00am
- 40 paid hours per week
- £18.65 per hour
- Additional £50 night shift allowance per shift
- Circa £49,000 annual earnings
What You'll Be Doing
- Setting and operating high-speed CNC machinery
- Working across milling, drilling, tapping and other machining processes
- Reading and interpreting engineering and mechanical drawings
- Completing basic edits to CNC programmes and tool tables
- Preparing and loading raw materials and components
- Checking, controlling and replacing tooling and cutters
- Ensuring tooling, fixtures and CNC programmes are available prior to production
- Carrying out quality checks and maintaining accurate production records
- Taking ownership of component quality and minimising scrap
- Supporting the efficient operation of the wider machine shop
What We're Looking ForYou must already have previous CNC machining experience and be confident operating machinery within a production environment.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous CNC setting and operating experience
- Knowledge and understanding of 3-axis and 4-axis CNC machining
- Experience using Renishaw probing
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Experience making basic CNC programme and tool table edits
- Good knowledge of tooling and cutters
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Good attention to detail and a quality-focused approach
