We are recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant on behalf of a growing and well-established business based in York. This is an excellent opportunity for an AAT-qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA candidate to join a supportive finance team and gain exposure to management accounting, business partnering, and commercial finance activities. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in the production of management accounts and financial reporting, whilst supporting the wider finance function with analysis and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Produce and maintain accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Prepare monthly financial reports and KPI analysis
- Assist with cash flow reporting and monitoring
- Analyse business performance and provide meaningful financial insights
- Support year-end audit activities and statutory reporting requirements
- Assist with process improvement initiatives across the finance function
- Liaise with departmental managers to provide financial information and support
- Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with company procedures
About You
- AAT qualified or actively studying towards ACCA/CIMA
- Previous experience within a Management Accounts, Assistant Accountant, Finance Analyst, or similar finance role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes
- Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to work across departments
