Castle Employment Group is recruiting experienced Coded Welders and Welding Inspectors for a hands-on inspection and quality position within an established structural steel manufacturing environment.

This opportunity would suit someone who has a strong welding background, understands welding quality standards and is confident inspecting and repairing welds.

This is not a purely inspection-based position. Candidates must be experienced welders who are comfortable carrying out hands-on weld repairs.

Pay and Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 7am to 4.45pm
  • 4-day working week with a 3-day weekend
  • Hourly rate to be confirmed
  • Higher rates may be available for relevant inspection qualifications
  • Permanent employment opportunities

The Role

  • Inspecting structural steel components produced using specialist welding machinery.
  • Carrying out visual weld inspections to identify defects and quality issues.
  • Undertaking hands-on welding repairs to defective welds.
  • Ensuring completed welds meet required quality standards.
  • Supporting production by identifying and rectifying welding defects efficiently.
  • Working to different customer specifications and welding requirements.
  • Using overhead cranes to safely move and position steel components.
  • Completing relevant inspection and quality documentation.
  • Preparing and checking finished components before despatch.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Previous hands-on welding and fabrication experience.
  • A background as a coded welder or welding inspector with practical welding experience.
  • Experience identifying welding defects and carrying out weld repairs.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes.
  • Strong understanding of welding quality and inspection standards.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain high standards.

Highly Desirable

  • PCN Level 2 inspection qualifications.
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) experience.
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) knowledge or qualifications.
  • Previous experience inspecting structural steel welds.
  • Experience working to different customer welding specifications.

Formal NDT qualifications aren't essential, as additional inspection skills can be developed within the role.

We're particularly interested in experienced coded welders who have carried out welding inspections and repairs throughout their careers.

What's on Offer

  • Permanent employment opportunities.
  • Competitive hourly rates.
  • Potential higher rates for relevant inspection qualifications.
  • Monday to Thursday working week.
  • Three-day weekend.
  • Hands-on position combining welding, inspection and quality control.
