We are currently working with a lovely village primary school on the outskirts of York who are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Learning Support Assistant from September on a temporary basis. This rewarding role will involve providing 1:1 support for a child with complex additional needs who is currently working to a bespoke timetable. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the child access learning, develop confidence and achieve their individual targets within a supportive school environment.
Ideal Candidate will have:
- Experience supporting children with SEND, either in a school or care setting
- Patient, nurturing and able to build positive relationships
- Support the child with both their academic progress and personal development
- Assist with learning activities tailored to the child's individual needs
- Help to implement behaviour support strategies where required
- Work closely with teaching staff and external professionals
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress updates
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience working with children with additional needs
- A caring, positive and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children to reach their full potential
- Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential
