Job Description

Are you a Procurement Manager who wants the opportunity to shape a function rather than simply maintain one?

This is an opportunity to join a growing business where procurement is becoming increasingly important to future growth. You will have the scope to develop procurement strategy, strengthen supplier relationships and improve commercial performance.

With a salary of £45,000 - £52,000, an early Friday finish, discretionary bonus, private healthcare benefits and the opportunity to influence senior stakeholders, this is a role with genuine scope to make an impact.

What you'll be doing

As Procurement Manager, you will take the existing purchasing operation forward, moving the function from reactive buying towards a more proactive and commercially focused approach.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing a clear procurement strategy

  • Supporting the existing procurement team

  • Reviewing the supplier base and building stronger strategic supplier relationships

  • Leading commercial negotiations to improve pricing, terms and overall value

  • Identifying and delivering measurable cost savings and cost avoidance

  • Introducing supplier KPIs, SLAs and structured performance management

  • Improving procurement processes, systems and reporting

  • Supporting the development and implementation of procurement and inventory systems

  • Improving inventory planning and the management of critical and long-lead items

  • Anticipating future purchasing requirements as the business grows

  • Reducing emergency purchasing and wider supply chain risk

  • Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Technical and Finance teams

  • Supporting international logistics and wider supply chain requirements

  • Providing commercial procurement insight to senior stakeholders

What we're looking for

This position would suit an established Procurement Manager, Purchasing Manager or Supply Chain Manager who has moved beyond transactional purchasing and can demonstrate a strategic and commercially focused approach.

You'll need:

  • Proven procurement, purchasing or supply chain management experience

  • Strong people management skills with experience leading and developing a team

  • Demonstrable strategic procurement capability

  • Strong commercial and supplier negotiation skills

  • Experience managing supplier relationships and contracts

  • Evidence of delivering cost savings, cost avoidance or improved commercial terms

  • The ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across different functions

  • Confidence to appropriately challenge existing purchasing decisions and ways of working

  • Experience improving procurement processes, systems or reporting

  • A proactive, commercially minded approach suited to a growing and changing business

Experience of inventory management, ERP or procurement systems, supplier KPIs, international logistics or strong procurement data analysis would also be beneficial.

Salary, hours and benefits

You'll receive a salary of £45,000 - £52,000 depending on experience, alongside:

  • Discretionary annual bonus

  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays

  • Additional special leave, including birthday and bereavement leave

  • Company pension

  • Private healthcare, dental and optical cover following successful probation

  • EV salary sacrifice scheme

  • Free on-site parking

  • Company-funded social events

  • Free Food Fridays with snacks and drinks

  • Casual dress

  • An early finish every Friday

Working hours are 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am - 2:30pm Friday, based in Scarborough. Occasional business travel will form part of the position.

Most importantly, you'll be joining at a point where you can have a real influence on how procurement develops. Rather than inheriting a finished function, you'll have the opportunity to build on what's already there, develop the team and create a more strategic procurement operation as the business continues to grow.
