An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced engineering leader to join a fast-paced food manufacturing environment as an Assistant Engineering Manager. Working closely with the Engineering Manager and wider senior leadership team, you will play a key role in driving engineering performance, reducing downtime and supporting continuous improvement across site. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on managing engineering activity, developing engineering teams and ensuring machinery performance supports production targets and overall site efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and lead the engineering function across site operations
- Manage daily engineering workloads, breakdown response and planned activity
- Drive machine reliability, OEE performance and downtime reduction
- Allocate and manage work through the Pirana CMMS system
- Lead, coach and develop engineering teams through training and performance reviews
- Work closely with Production and Warehouse teams to improve site performance
- Support CI activity, root cause analysis and engineering best practice
- Ensure compliance across Health & Safety, permits, PPMs and engineering standards
- Provide clear escalation, communication and shift hand-overs across departments
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience in an Engineering Supervisor, Team Leader or Management role within manufacturing or food production
- Strong engineering background with excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing KPIs, engineering performance and continuous improvement activity
- Confident leading teams and driving high standards across engineering operations
- Knowledge of CMMS systems, ideally Pirana
- IOSH and Lean manufacturing experience advantageous
Desirable Qualifications
- Engineering Degree, HNC or equivalent experience
- ILM Level 3 or above
- Lean Green Belt
- Project Management experience
- Permit to Work and Hot Work training
