Technical Services Manager

Location: Malton
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000
Hours: Monday to Friday, with flexibility around start times
Contract: Permanent, Full-time

We are recruiting a Technical Services Manager for an established food manufacturer in North Yorkshire. Reporting to the Site Technical Manager, you'll lead a small Technical Services team and take ownership across specifications, customer technical, product launches and continuous improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced food manufacturing technical professional who wants greater responsibility, strong customer exposure and the chance to develop their management career.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading, coaching and developing the Specifications and Technical Administration team

  • Managing customer specifications, artwork and technical documentation

  • Taking technical ownership of new product launches, supporting the process from concept through to launch

  • Building strong technical relationships with major retail customers, suppliers and service providers

  • Managing customer queries, complaints and technical requests, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented

  • Supporting customer visits and maintaining strong, audit-ready technical standards

  • Overseeing shelf-life and nutritional validation programmes, alongside relevant laboratory and pest control providers

  • Monitoring Technical KPIs through Power BI, identifying trends and driving improvements across complaints, quality and non-conformance

  • Working closely with NPD, Production, Operations and wider site teams to maintain food safety, legality and quality standards

  • Supporting the continued development of a positive Food Safety and Quality Culture across the site

What we're looking for

You don't need to be doing this exact role already. This could be a great next step for a Technical Services professional, Specifications Manager or senior food manufacturing technical professional looking to broaden their responsibilities and move into a management position.

You'll need:

  • Proven technical, specifications or quality experience within food manufacturing

  • Experience working with retailer or major customer requirements

  • Good knowledge of specifications, artwork and product launch processes

  • Confidence communicating directly with customers and building effective relationships

  • Experience leading, supervising or developing others

  • Strong knowledge of food safety, legality and quality requirements

  • The ability to interpret technical information, solve problems and drive corrective actions

Level 3 Food Safety and HACCP qualifications would be advantageous, while a food-related degree or equivalent industry knowledge would also be beneficial.
