We're recruiting for a Software Developer (Desktop & Cloud Applications) role based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, offering a salary of £40,000 - £45,000, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm, with hybrid working available once established.
The Role
Working across desktop and cloud technologies, you'll be responsible for developing a new Windows-based application alongside the supporting cloud infrastructure. You'll be involved throughout the software lifecycle, from architecture and technical design through to implementation, testing and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing Windows desktop applications using C#, .NET and WPF
- Building APIs using ASP.NET Core
- Developing cloud synchronisation functionality
- Designing and maintaining SQL Server and SQLite databases
- Implementing authentication and user permissions
- Contributing to software architecture and technical decisions
- Developing new features and enhancing existing applications
- Working closely with Sales, Marketing and the wider R&D team to improve user experience
- Supporting the ongoing evolution of a scalable software platform
About You
You'll be someone who enjoys solving technical problems, takes ownership of your work and is looking for a long-term opportunity within a growing engineering business. You'll ideally have:
- Around 3-5 years' commercial software development experience
- Strong experience with C# and .NET
- Experience building desktop applications (WPF preferred)
- Experience developing REST APIs using ASP.NET Core
- Knowledge of SQL Server, SQLite or similar relational databases
- Exposure to cloud technologies (Azure experience advantageous)
- Experience delivering projects from concept through to release
- Confidence working independently within a small development team
- A genuine passion for software development and continuous learning
Experience within engineering, manufacturing or scientific software would be advantageous but is not essential.
