Job Description: Working Joinery Foreman

Overview
We are seeking a skilled Working Joinery Foreman to work with out client, to lead and oversee office fit-out projects across our sites nationwide. In this role, you will utilise your leadership and carpentry expertise to ensure office interiors are completed to the highest standards of quality, within schedule, and adhering to health and safety regulations. As a hands-on leader, you will actively contribute to the joinery tasks while managing teams on-site, fostering a culture of collaboration, and striving for operational excellence.

Responsibilities Leadership & Project Management

  • Act as the principal point of contact on-site, leading by example and setting clear expectations for site teams and subcontractors involved in office fit-outs.
  • Manage teams of skilled workers, subcontractors, and apprentices, ensuring effective communication and alignment with office fit-out project plans.
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise joinery and fit-out tasks to ensure accurate and timely execution of all project phases.

Joinery Expertise

  • Perform high-quality joinery work specific to office interiors, including furniture installations, partition wall carpentry, custom cabinetry, and bespoke interior elements.
  • Ensure that all tasks meet commercial fit-out craftsmanship and finish standards.

Site Supervision

  • Monitor and uphold strict health, safety, and environmental standards on-site, ensuring compliance with workplace regulations specific to office-based environments.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure all work aligns with office fit-out specifications, building codes, and project scope.

Collaboration

  • Coordinate with the project manager, architects, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure office fit-out goals are met efficiently.
  • Mentor and support junior staff and apprentices in acquiring practical skills related to joinery and interiors, promoting future growth within the sector.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Working Joinery Foreman, specifically in office fit-out or commercial interior projects.
  • Strong carpentry/joinery background with the ability to execute and oversee joinery elements tailored to office projects.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and fit-out specifications.
  • Knowledge of Construction Site Health & Safety regulations, with SMSTS or SSSTS certification preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organisation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams effectively in a live work environment.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide, as projects span multiple locations.
  • Current valid driving licence.

Day-to-Day

  • Efficiently manage and allocate resources, tools, and materials across office fit-out sites.
  • Supervise and perform joinery tasks, such as installing partitions, furniture, storage units, and bespoke fixtures, ensuring precision and adherence to project specifications.
  • Conduct daily health and safety checks, toolbox talks, and team briefings, focused on the unique challenges of office interiors.
  • Collaborate actively with designers, project managers, and clients to align on project timelines, aesthetics, and functionality requirements.
  • Provide hands-on support as needed, ensuring smooth on-site operations and quick resolutions to fit-out challenges.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive culture on-site, ensuring all team members are motivated and supported during every stage of the fit-out process.
