Permanent | Full-time

Castle Employment Group is recruiting a Technical Assistant Manager for an established food manufacturing business in North Yorkshire. This is a hands-on management position combining food safety, quality and compliance responsibilities with the day-to-day management of a Processing team.

Working closely with the Technical Manager, you’ll take responsibility for key technical activities across the site while ensuring your team is effectively managed, trained and supported.

The role:

  • Supporting food safety, quality and compliance standards across the site
  • Coordinating product, environmental and shelf-life testing
  • Working with external laboratories and managing testing requirements
  • Supporting hygiene and sanitation standards within production
  • Maintaining technical, chemical and compliance documentation
  • Coordinating equipment calibration and servicing
  • Supporting internal, external and customer audits
  • Maintaining controlled documentation and technical records
  • Working closely with Production to maintain consistent product quality
  • Improving technical systems, procedures and working practices
  • Supporting a strong food safety culture across the site
  • Managing Processing team rotas, holidays and shift coverage
  • Managing absence and return-to-work processes
  • Conducting probation reviews and supporting performance management
  • Providing day-to-day leadership, coaching and support
  • Ensuring team training records remain accurate and up to date

About you:

You’ll have experience within Technical or Quality in a food manufacturing environment alongside proven people management experience. You’ll be confident managing employees day to day, including performance, absence, rotas, holidays and training, while remaining hands-on within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll also need strong food safety and compliance knowledge, good attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with both Technical and Production teams.
