A growing engineering and manufacturing business in Rotherham is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join the team on an initial 3-month contract. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role supporting a busy operational environment. You will work closely with managers across the business, providing practical HR support with an immediate focus on employee relations, day-to-day advisory, and maintaining HR processes during a period of change and growth. There is potential for the role to extend for the right individual.
The Role
- Provide day-to-day HR support to managers across both shopfloor and office-based teams
- Take ownership of employee relations cases, ensuring matters are handled efficiently and in line with best practice
- Support managers with absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance processes
- Ensure a consistent and pragmatic approach to people management across the business
Key Areas of Focus:
- Employee Relations
- Manage a range of ER cases from start to finish
- Offer clear, commercially focused guidance to line managers
- Prepare documentation and attend formal meetings where required
- Build manager capability in handling people matters confidently
- HR Coordination & Support
- Maintain accurate and compliant employee records
- Support recruitment activity where needed, including interviews and onboarding
- Assist with starters, leavers, and contractual changes
- Provide payroll with accurate and timely HR data
- Performance & Development
- Support ongoing performance review activity
- Assist in identifying development needs across teams
- Contribute to improving engagement and team effectiveness
- Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure policies and procedures are applied consistently and remain up to date
- Support internal audits and HR reporting
- Contribute to improving HR processes and ways of working
About You
- Proven experience operating as an HR Advisor within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Confident managing employee relations cases independently
- Strong understanding of UK employment legislation
- CIPD Level 3 as a minimum, Level 5 or working towards is advantageous
- Able to work at pace, prioritise effectively, and manage your own workload
- Strong communicator, able to build credibility quickly with managers
- Proactive, practical, and solutions-focused
