Are you an experienced finance leader who enjoys building strong processes, developing teams and creating the financial controls that help a business perform at its best? We are recruiting a Transactional Finance Manager for a well-established Yorkshire business with multiple sites and a strong reputation in its sector. Following a period of growth and territory expansion, the business is entering an exciting phase of consolidation and development, creating an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take ownership of a critical function.
This is a hands‑on leadership role where you will oversee the day‑to‑day performance of the transactional finance team while driving continuous improvement, strengthening controls and supporting the wider business with accurate financial information. What you’ll be doing:
- Leading, mentoring and developing the Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Credit Control and Cash teams
- Setting and monitoring performance measures across transactional finance activities
- Overseeing purchase ledger processes, supplier reconciliations and payment runs
- Managing sales ledger, cash allocation and credit control activities
- Supporting managers with overdue accounts and credit management processes
- Maintaining accurate banking, cash and balance sheet reconciliations
- Producing timely cashflow information and supporting forecasting activities
- Ensuring strong financial controls, audit trails and compliance processes are maintained
- Preparing and reviewing control account reconciliations, including VAT and other key balance sheet accounts
- Supporting year‑end audit requirements and external reporting processes
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, streamline workflows and enhance financial processes
What we’re looking for:
- AAT Level 4 qualified or above
- Previous experience leading or supervising a transactional finance team
- Strong understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control and cash management processes
- Experience producing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining robust financial controls
- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to analyse and reconcile large volumes of data
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving
- Experience working within a multi‑site or multi‑entity environment would be advantageous
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to challenge processes constructively and positively
- Full UK driving licence
