🕒 Role: Learning Support Assistant – Primary & Secondary

About the Role: We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist provision in the Scarborough area that supports students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role will see you working across primary and secondary age groups, supporting students in the classroom and in targeted interventions. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will help deliver high-quality support to children with SEMH challenges and work closely with teachers and other LSAs to create a positive, safe learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH / SEND needs
  • Assist teachers in the delivery of learning activities and interventions
  • Support positive behaviour management and help implement behaviour plans
  • Encourage social, emotional, and academic development
  • Work collaboratively with other LSAs and classroom staff
  • Help monitor and record student progress and report any safeguarding concerns
  • Promote a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Person Specification / Requirements

  • Previous experience as an LSA or supporting SEMH / SEND is desirable, but not essential
  • LSA qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) is preferred, or willingness to work toward accreditation
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people and staff
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection requirements
  • Patient, flexible, and resilient, with a calm approach under pressure
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow classroom routines
  • Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check
