We’re seeking an Interim Payroll Manager to join a payroll team in York temporarily for around 6 months (until January 2026). The role supports a busy payroll period during a permanent recruitment process. The salary ranges from circa £35,000 to £45,000, with hybrid working (about 3-4 days from home). The role is likely 5 days a week with some flexibility to accommodate individual and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage payroll services, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and government reporting requirements, including holiday pay changes.
  • Oversee HMRC payroll queries, including P60s, P11Ds, and PSA agreements.
  • Assist with ad hoc finance tasks as needed.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience in payroll roles such as Payroll Officer, Payroll Manager, or similar.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • CIPP qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proactive, positive attitude, able to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
