Working as part of the manufacturing team overseeing the efficient running and direction of the Encapsulation department and all related supporting activity. Demonstrating a visible leadership to teams to sustain a focus in achievement of targets, safety and the highest of compliance to standards.

The Encapsulation Supervisor is enthusiastic and hardworking, with experience in all aspects of Encap manufacturing along with outstanding attention to detail and communication skills.

General / Operational Responsibilities:
  • Ensure products are produced as per plan, on time, and right first time.
  • Assist the Encapsulation Manager in all day to day items.
  • Take full ownership of the teams under the guidance of the Encapsulation Manager.
  • Working on existing products with the NPD (New Product Development) team to establish problem products and suggest and work to alleviate problem items.
  • Taking responsibility and drive of NPD and EPD (Existing Product Development) trials in department.
  • Taking ownership of the department in its entirety, from hygiene, maintenance, product runs etc.
  • Identifying and owning issues arising in the department, if something doesn’t work, or is not effective own the issue and work with the management and leadership teams to highlight, address and rectify.
  • Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the team, developing an individual’s weaknesses and utilising their strengths to enhance the team.
  • Conduct daily team briefings to assign work, recognise achievement, communicate daily targets and provide handover information to the team.
  • Ensure the production and quality policy is adhered to and ensure that products and processes confirm to established BRC (British Retail Consortium), ISO, Customer and Company Standards.
  • Monitor and support the team in achieving the results required by the Company.
  • Promote and maintain awareness and compliance to Health and Safety in accordance with best practice and legal requirements.
  • Implement a lean culture across the Encapsulation team to achieve measurable results in quality, efficiency and cost.
  • Ensure that route tracking is being undertaken across the department.
  • Take ownership of reporting issues to Engineering and monitoring of the engineering works orders on Monday.com.
  • Ensure that Product completions, production start-ups and changeovers are carried out correctly.
  • Ensure all paperwork and manufacturing documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Manage resource allocation, taking into account absences and workstation assignments during breaks.
  • Manage and control training administration for shift including the submission of training via UKG.
Training, coaching and development Responsibilities:
  • Champion and take full ownership of new hires within the department including:
    • Providing a detailed department induction when a new hire joins your team.
    • Allocate an appropriately trained buddy to guide and train the new hire.
    • Monitor and assist the buddy to ensure the training being provided is to the highest standard.
  • Monitor and keep accurate the UKG Learning, skills matrix for all employees assigned to your area of the business.
  • Manage and control training administration and the submission of training via UKG Learning.
  • Ensure that your team are only assigned to machines that they are trained on as per the skills matrix.
  • Provide training to employees as directed by the L&D, Executive Project Manager including on the job, short take training.
Leadership / Management Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Encapsulation Manager in:
    • Driving down absence by following the absence management process and procedures.
    • Monitoring and managing capability across the department, coaching under performance in a supportive and encouraging manner, identifying training needs and using Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) where necessary.
    • Promoting a culture of high employee engagement and motivation where the needs of the business are balanced with the needs of individuals.
    • Organising tasks and setting goals for the team to achieve the departmental targets and that of the wider Bee Health and INW company.
    • Being a leadership ambassador to the vision & values of Bee Health, championing what good looks like.
    • Attending, in the absence of the Encapsulation Manager, PDCA/SQDCP/Planning Meetings/NPD and EPD Meetings.
  • Take full ownership of the Return to Work Interview process and the updating of UGK system.
  • Responsible for teams reviews and performance appraisals including regularity reviewing of performance in line with the skills matrix / training position.
  • Develop strong interdepartmental relationships across all departments at Bee Health to ensure best practice is observed throughout the department.
  • Manage the day to day needs of the department including holiday management, capability management, probation and appraisal reviews.
Planning & Improvement Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Encap Assistant Manager in:
    • Communicating with the planning department to ensure that the weekly plan is achievable and any issues that may arise are dealt with and planned accordingly for the week ahead.
    • Carrying out regular skills gap analysis across the department to identify skills gaps and requirements to help plan and inform future requirements and internal progression.
    • Championing the promotion and implementation of new processes across the department.
  • Conduct daily reviews of planned production and staffing levels to ensure:
    • Necessary resources and skills are available to achieve the required targets.
    • Where over staffed ensure effective utilisation across the wider business covering shortages, additional training and/or deep cleaning of working areas.
  • Produce and provide a comprehensive daily handover for the next shift, in a clear, unbiased and efficient manner.
  • Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve the Encapsulation department and all related activities.
