Job Title: SEND Teacher
Location: Harrogate
Job Type: Long-term, ongoing
Working Pattern: Full-time
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications
Are you a qualified Teacher who wants to make a real difference to children and young people who need a little extra support to thrive?
Castle Education is excited to be working in partnership with 3 specialist schools across the Harrogate area, to recruit enthusiastic and dedicated SEND Teachers for long-term, ongoing opportunities.
Whether you already have experience in a specialist setting or are a mainstream Teacher looking to take your career in a new direction, we would love to hear from you.
These are genuine, longer term opportunities offering regular work and guaranteed hours, with the chance to become part of a school team rather than moving between different schools every day.
A little bit about the schools
Our partner schools support children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, including autism, severe learning difficulties, communication needs, physical disabilities and complex learning needs.
Each school focuses on understanding pupils as individuals, creating positive relationships and providing an engaging learning environment where every young person has the opportunity to develop and achieve their potential.
What will the role involve?
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons suited to pupils’ individual abilities and learning needs.
- Creating a positive classroom environment where pupils feel safe, supported and encouraged.
- Adapting learning activities and resources to meet a range of SEND needs.
- Supporting pupils’ academic, social, emotional and personal development.
- Working closely with Teaching Assistants and other members of the school team.
- Building positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
- Celebrating progress and helping pupils develop confidence, independence and essential life skills.
What are we looking for?
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a SEND setting.
- A patient, positive and flexible approach.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- The ability to adapt teaching to suit different learning styles and abilities.
- Someone who is passionate about inclusive education and helping every pupil succeed.
Experience within a specialist school would be beneficial, but we would also welcome applications from Teachers with mainstream experience who are keen to develop their SEND knowledge and skills.
Why work with Castle Education?
- Long-term, ongoing opportunities with consistent work.
- The chance to build meaningful relationships with pupils and colleagues.
- Opportunities to develop your experience in specialist education.
- A supportive team who will help you throughout your placement.
- The opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils’ lives every day.
If you are looking for a rewarding teaching role where you can focus on helping pupils thrive, we would love to hear from you!
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, along with other relevant pre-employment checks. Shortlisted candidates may also be subject to an online search.
