Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Harrogate, North Yorkshire
Job Type: Long-term, ongoing
Working Pattern: Full-time opportunities available
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in education?

Castle Education is working in partnership with 3 specialist schools in the Harrogate area, to recruit SEN Teaching Assistants for long-term, ongoing roles.

If you enjoy working with children, want to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and are looking for a role where you can really get to know the school and the children you support, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

The best bit?
These are ongoing opportunities with consistent work and guaranteed hours available, giving you the chance to build a routine, develop your skills and become part of a supportive school team.

A little bit about the schools
Our partner schools support children and young people with a variety of additional needs, including autism, learning difficulties, communication needs and complex physical or developmental needs.

Every pupil has their own strengths, challenges and ways of learning. The schools focus on creating positive relationships, encouraging independence and ensuring every child feels safe, valued and supported.

What will the role involve?

  • Supporting pupils with their learning and day-to-day development.
  • Working alongside teachers to deliver engaging lessons and activities.
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support where needed.
  • Helping pupils develop communication, social skills and independence.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and creating a supportive learning environment.
  • Adapting activities to suit individual abilities and needs.
  • Working closely with other staff to ensure pupils receive consistent support.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience working with children, ideally within a school, nursery or SEND setting.
  • A patient, caring and encouraging approach.
  • Someone who can build positive relationships with children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A flexible attitude and willingness to learn.
  • A genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs.

You do not need to have worked in a specialist school before to register your interest. If you have relevant experience, a passion for supporting children and the right attitude, we would love to have a conversation with you.

Why apply through Castle Education?

  • Long-term, ongoing work rather than just occasional supply.
  • The opportunity to become a familiar and trusted member of the school team.
  • Valuable experience working within specialist education.
  • Support from our friendly and approachable recruitment team.
  • The chance to do a job that genuinely matters.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, along with other relevant pre-employment checks. Shortlisted candidates may also be subject to an online search.
