Maintenance Planning Technician

Location: Ketton Cement Works, Stamford

Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week

Salary £50,000 - £52,000 DOE

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Planning Technician to join our engineering team at Ketton Cement Works, one of the UK's leading cement manufacturing sites. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong planning, administration, and SAP maintenance management experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced industrial environment where reliability, safety, and continuous improvement are critical to success.

About the Role

The Maintenance Planning Technician plays a key role in supporting the development and delivery of effective maintenance planning and scheduling processes across the site. You will ensure maintenance activities are accurately planned, recorded, and closed within SAP, helping to improve plant reliability, availability, cost control, energy efficiency, and operational performance. Working closely with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams, you will support maintenance planning, shutdown preparation, procurement activities, and compliance requirements while driving improvements in maintenance data quality and system effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning & Scheduling

  • Support the preparation and maintenance of daily and weekly maintenance plans.
  • Ensure work orders are fully prepared before scheduling, including labour, materials, documentation, safety requirements, and isolation needs.
  • Liaise with maintenance teams to capture accurate completion information and feedback.
  • Support maintenance backlog reviews and prioritisation activities.

SAP PM & Data Management

  • Create, update, technically complete, and close maintenance work orders within SAP.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance history records to support reliability analysis and statutory compliance.
  • Support the upkeep of SAP PM master data including equipment records, maintenance plans, task lists, and technical documentation.
  • Act as a key user for the maintenance management system, providing support and guidance across site teams.

Procurement & Cost Control

  • Raise purchase requisitions for engineering materials, spare parts, and services.
  • Ensure accurate cost coding, supplier information, and supporting documentation.
  • Support invoice and purchase order query resolution.
  • Assist with maintenance budget preparation and expenditure monitoring.

Shutdown Planning

  • Support the planning and preparation of site shutdown activities.
  • Coordinate work order preparation and isolation requirements.
  • Track completion of shutdown activities and ensure accurate close-out documentation.
  • Capture lessons learned and improvement opportunities following shutdowns.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain documentation required for audits, statutory inspections, and certification requirements.
  • Support compliance with company engineering standards and maintenance procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within maintenance planning, scheduling, and SAP processes.
  • Support training and knowledge sharing across maintenance teams.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience within a maintenance planning, maintenance coordination, engineering support, or maintenance administration role.
  • Experience using SAP PM or a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of maintenance processes within an industrial, manufacturing, heavy engineering, quarrying, cement, aggregates, or similar environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and SAP systems.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
