Position Overview

Heidelberg Materials UK (formerly Hanson UK) is looking for a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our technical team and ensure our building materials products meet the highest standards. Location: Scunthorpe Contract Type: Perm - Full time Salary: £27,976.00

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out physical testing on mortars and chemical analysis on cementitious materials.
  • Ensure compliance with BS EN standards and local operating procedures and review and input test data into LIMS.
  • Accurately input data into LIMS, reporting anomalies, errors and ensuring timely data tracking.
  • Work within a team on a testing rota, maintaining high levels of cleanliness and safety.
  • Perform daily equipment checks, calibration and ensure equipment safety compliance.
  • Follow all safety protocols, report near‑misses and maintain laboratory cleanliness.
  • Support investigations into product issues and complaints, challenge unsafe/non‑compliant behaviours.
  • Deliver full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures and liaise with contractors and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental compliance, Risk Assessments, Operating Procedures, COSHH.
  • GCSE – Maths, Science, English. A level preferred.
  • Strong communication, analytical skills and uncompromised attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a mature work ethic.
  • Experience in Quality Control, Factory Production Control, Data Analysis or a Manufacturing/Engineering Technician background.
