Castell Howell Foods is Wales’ leading independent food service wholesaler, servicing the length and breadth of Wales, the Border Counties and the South West of England. We currently have a vacancy for a Technical Administrator based at our HQ in Cross Hands and within our food manufacturing sites. This vacancy is to cover maternity leave and will run for a period of 18 months.
The successful candidate will assist the team in providing technical support at our storage and distribution HQ in Cross Hands and our Farm Fresh Fillings, Llandeilo Bakery and Preserves, and Celtic Coast Fish production units.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with internal and external third‑party audit preparation including BRCGS and Salsa
- Maintain the Supplier Approval and Certification Agilechilli database for Castell Howell Foods and Farm Fresh production units
- Coordinate monthly Supplier Appraisals and regular traceability exercises
- Ensure all Control and Critical Control Points (CCPs) for the site are monitored and documented
- Undertake monthly Good Hygiene Practice (GHP) and / or Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) audits
- Conduct data logger temperature sampling to ensure the cold chain is maintained at all points of storage and distribution
- Conduct regular water and product sampling and, where required, dip slide testing
- Assist with Product Recalls / Product Withdrawals
- Provide Health and Safety administration support when required
This role will vary daily and will require the ability to self‑prioritise your workload and work independently. It includes general administrative duties and requires knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (Outlook/Excel/Word). Experience in technical operations and Food Safety / HACCP qualifications is preferred but not essential as full training will be given.
