Castell Howell Foods is Wales’ leading independent food service wholesaler, servicing the length and breadth of Wales, the Border Counties and the South West of England. We currently have a vacancy for a Catering Assistant based at our Cross Hands department.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation, presentation and service of food for staff and visitors, ensuring food is served safely, promptly and to the required standard.
  • Support the Day Cook with basic food preparation duties.
  • Serve staff and visitors in a polite, helpful and professional manner, including answering basic queries and escalating any concerns to the Day Cook or Food Safety Manager.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the canteen and dining areas, including cleaning work surfaces, equipment, tables, floors and bins in line with cleaning schedules.
  • Wash, dry and store crockery, cutlery, utensils and equipment safely and hygienically, using dishwashing equipment correctly where applicable.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, HACCP, allergen management and company procedures at all times, including correct storage, stock rotation, temperature control and prevention of cross-contamination.
  • Ensure allergen information is handled accurately and responsibly, referring any allergen or dietary queries to the appropriate trained person before food is served.
  • Assist with the replenishment of the vending machine.
