Role Overview: We are seeking a highly capable Financial Accountant or Financial Controller to join our finance team during an exciting phase of growth and transformation. The role will be critical in supporting the monthly reporting cycle, maintaining accurate financial controls, improving reconciliations, and enabling the business to scale with confidence. You will work closely with the Finance Manager – Designate and support the junior team, while taking ownership of key accounting and control functions across Castell Group and its subsidiaries. Key Responsibilities Prepare and support monthly management accounts for multiple entities and a consolidated group pack. Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, intercompany recharges Assist with group consolidation reporting. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain control accounts Produce monthly cost centre reporting with analysis for the Finance Manager – Designate. Payroll & Control Accounts Take ownership of wage and HMRC control accounts Oversee payroll reconciliation and collaborate with payroll assistant Reconcile PAYE, pensions, and payroll journals accurately Statutory Accounts & Audit Prepare statutory financial packs for all entities Liaise with external accountants for statutory submissions Support annual audit preparation and compliance processes Reconciliations & Ledger Oversight Oversee bank reconciliations, supplier reconciliations, and intercompany balances Support purchase ledger clean-up and process improvement Assist in implementing stronger financial controls and SOPs Team Collaboration & Process Improvement Support junior team members Assist in finance system and process development Identify and implement improvements in reporting accuracy, speed, and automation Qualifications & Experience Part-qualified or fully qualified (ACCA / ACA / CIMA) – or QBE with strong track record Minimum 3 years’ experience in a finance team role with management accounts exposure Experience working in construction, housebuilding, or project-based environments preferred Strong knowledge of accounting systems, Excel, and financial controls Technically strong and detail-oriented Strong work-ethic Highly organised with ability to prioritise and meet deadlines Calm under pressure and proactive in problem-solving Positive, collaborative, and supportive of junior team members Eager to improve systems and scale financial operations Seniority level Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Employment type Full-time Job function Job function Accounting/Auditing and Finance Industries Construction Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Castell Group by 2x Get notified about new Financial Controller jobs in Swansea, Wales, United Kingdom .
