Payments Manager

Isleworth Competitive Salary

Are you an experienced finance professional with a strong background in payment operations and team leadership? We're seeking a Payments Manager to oversee and lead a dynamic Payments Team within a fast-paced Finance Shared Service Centre.

This role will suit a confident and proactive leader with extensive Accounts Payable / Payments experience, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement across complex, high-volume payment operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a Payments Team, ensuring high performance and professional growth
  • Oversee daily cashbook clearing, payment allocation, and journal creation
  • Manage payment runs across multiple currencies (GBP, EUR, USD), including supplier and intercompany invoices
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulations (BACS, CHAPS, foreign payments)
  • Act as the key contact for payment queries, building strong internal and external relationships
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and best practice adoption across payment operations

Skills & Experience

  • Strong leadership and people management experience
  • Proven background in senior Accounts Payable / Payments roles
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • Familiarity with financial systems and payment platforms
  • Understanding of UK and international payment regulations
  • Experience in process improvement and change management
