Temporary Junior Buyer

£Hourly rate equivalent to £33k
An industry leading, engineering & manufacturing organisation is looking to appoint a Junior Buyer to support its purchasing and supply chain operations. Working within a global supplier network, the successful candidate will help ensure materials are available on time, at the right quality and cost, while upholding strong supplier relationships and supporting ongoing improvements across the purchasing and supply chain function.
This is a temporary role so ideally we're looking for candidates who are readily available to interview and start at short notice.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise, manage and monitor purchase orders, ensuring materials are ordered in line with business requirements and purchasing procedures.
- Liaise with a global supplier base to getting quotations, order confirmations, delivery updates aligning with lead times and resolve queries.
- Chase outstanding orders and proactively manage overdue deliveries to ensure material availability.
- Monitor inventory levels and replenishment stock, working closely with Planning and Production to maintain supply.
- Support supplier sourcing and performance management, including identifying potential suppliers and monitoring delivery/service KPIs.
- Maintain accurate supplier pricing and purchasing data within the ERP system and investigate PO, invoice and goods receipt discrepancies.
Experience & Skills Required
- 1-3 years purchasing/buying experience, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience managing and developing relationships with a global supplier base.
- Proven understanding of purchase orders, supplier quotations, expediting, invoice queries and delivery performance.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems, ideally SAP or an equivalent platform.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Proactive and robust problem-solving approach, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to react quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- CIPS qualification or working towards CIPS would be advantageous.
- Engineering purchasing experience and the ability to read technical drawings would be desirable.
