Role Summary: The Export Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring all export activities are completed in accordance with applicable export regulations, customs legislation, international trade requirements, customer obligations, and internal company procedures. The role supports the efficient international movement of goods while maintaining compliance across documentation, licensing, shipping activities, and controlled product environments. The successful candidate will work closely with internal departments and external partners to ensure all export operations are completed accurately, efficiently, and compliantly. The employee may be required to undertake additional duties within their capabilities as reasonably requested. Elements of the role may evolve as processes, systems, technologies, and operational requirements develop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with applicable export control regulations and international trade requirements.
- Prepare and review export documentation including:
- Commercial invoices
- Packing lists
- Certificates of origin
- Shipping documentation
- Export declarations
- Support export licensing activities and maintain associated records.
- Ensure commodity codes and customs information are accurate and up to date.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transport providers.
- Conduct sanctions and restricted party screening checks where required.
- Maintain accurate export and compliance records in line with company and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external compliance audits.
- Assist with investigations, corrective actions, and process improvements relating to export and trade compliance.
- Monitor changes in export legislation and communicate relevant updates internally.
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Sales, Procurement, Quality, and Logistics teams to support customer requirements and delivery schedules.
- Provide administrative and reporting support relating to export compliance activities.
- Promote continuous improvement within export and logistics processes.
- Support management of controlled data, products, and documentation in line with internal and customer requirements.
- Maintain awareness of export restrictions and licensing obligations relevant to controlled goods and international shipments.
- Assist with customer and regulatory compliance audits relating to export activities.

Essential Qualifications:

- Experience handling export documentation and international shipments.
- Good understanding of export regulations, customs procedures, and controlled goods requirements.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or regulated environment.
- Experience liaising with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and external suppliers.
