This role reports to the Head of Sales and has primary responsibility for coordinating the marketing strategy and delivery across all marketing channels for Cassini, including Brand, Thought Leadership and Direct Marketing. The role is based in London and manages the marketing function globally, so involves occasional travel between regions. This person will report to the Head of Sales. Given the focused nature of the marketing requirements for Cassini, we see this as a fractional role with equivalent of 3 days per week, however structured. Cassini is a B2B business operating in the capital markets business selling to banks, asset managers and hedge funds globally. Cassini has a target universe of about 2,500 prospect firms globally.
Cassini delivers award winning & market leading technology and has deep domain expertise across the firm to support the sales and marketing efforts. Due to the specialized and targeted B2B nature of the business, marketing is more focused on brand, expertise, and credibility. The marketing activities will include organizing sponsorship/attendance at a limited number of conferences in USA and EMEA, along with strong focus on thought leadership. The role is responsible for all marketing strategy and execution and therefore this is an opportunity to make a real impact. The core responsibilities will cover:
- Marketing Plan and Strategy – Defining the marketing mix and priorities
- Defining and delivering a thought leadership strategy e.g. articles, case studies, white papers, panels, webinars, PR etc
- Working with sales to setup events and conferences
- Managing the website and SEO with external agencies
- Creating and refreshing sales collateral
- Managing social media presence and campaigns
- Managing digital online advertising
Specific Responsibilities:
- MARKETING STRATEGY & BUDGET
- Define the annual marketing plan and calendar in tandem with Head of Sales and CEO
- Define annual marketing budget and allocation to different channels and agree with CEO
- Oversee the external firms used for website management, design and collateral production etc.
- Weekly review with management of short and long term marketing projects
- Create and implement Go To Market plans for different products / client sectors
- LEAD/DEMAND GENERATION
- Define a Demand generation process using tools including email, social, webinars, etc.
- Setup the technical toolset including email nurturing
- Provide updates to sales teams on inbound leads and track follow ups
- Provide reporting to management on leads, follow up, and conversion to sales
- BRAND, WEBSITE AND SEO
- Own the brand image and strategy for creating brand awareness
- Define the website content, and ensure it is regularly refreshed
- Track website activity and adapt site to improve engagement
- Work with external provider to maximise SEO impact of all key web content, and track vs competitors
- THOUGHT LEADERSHIP AND CONTENT
- Drive messaging and content to create awareness in market of Cassini expertise and domain leadership
- Define a content plan for year and quarters
- Define each product and key messages with product team
- Work with product team to create thought leader documents and materials
- Drive distribution and campaigns for maximum awareness
- Create programme of webinars both standalone and with partners
- MARKETING COLLATERAL
- Create marketing collateral required to support go to market campaigns and sales
- Work with design agency on branding and style for all materials
- Ensure collateral is refreshed and up to date with product
- Ensure collateral is available for all target market segments and product areas
- SOCIAL AND DIGITAL MEDIA
- Manage Cassini Social presence on LinkedIn and Twitter
- Manage online digital ad campaigns on Google and LinkedIn
- EVENTS / AWARDS
- Agree the event attendance calendar with sales
- Negotiate and organize events with each provider
- Track follow up and engagement from events to aid future planning and budgets
- Ensure Cassini is entered for all suitable awards and categories
- Draft award entries and work with product & management to ensure accuracy and relevance
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of exposure to marketing in B2B financial technology, preferably in capital markets and OTC derivatives.
- Experience in marketing functions for growth technology business
- Knowledge of the capital markets industry
- Experience in B2B marketing
- Experience in demand generation
Skills & Competencies:
- A motivated, proactive, self-managing personality is essential
- Keen to grow and develop the Cassini brand and deliver an effective lead generation model to drive sales.
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed
- Knowledge of effective PR use in smaller businesses or products
