Sheffield (Hybrid) Leading Global Financial Services Organisation. We are working with a leading global financial services organisation seeking an experienced Engineering Coordinator to support large-scale engineering transformation initiatives across a complex, enterprise technology environment.
This role sits within a central engineering excellence function and focuses on improving engineering standards, capability, and consistency across software, data, infrastructure, and operations teams.
The Role
As an Engineering Coordinator, you will play a key role in uplifting engineering practices across multiple technology domains. You’ll work closely with senior engineering leaders, Principal Engineers, HR/L&D, and workforce teams to improve how engineering is delivered, developed, and scaled. This is a coordination and enablement role rather than a hands-on engineering position, well-suited to someone who enjoys working across teams, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate engineering transformation and maturity uplift initiatives across multiple domains
- Assess current engineering capability, identify gaps, and help define improvement plans with engineering leadership
- Partner with senior engineers to promote best-practice engineering standards and behaviours
- Support and evolve engineering Communities of Practice to strengthen culture and consistency
- Work with HR, L&D, and workforce teams to improve:
- Engineering hiring quality
- Training, upskilling, and long-term career pathways
What We’re Looking For
- Experience delivering engineering transformation, change, or continuous improvement initiatives
- A strong engineering mindset, with exposure to multiple technology areas and deep expertise in at least one discipline
- Proven ability to coordinate work across complex, multi-team, enterprise environments
- Comfortable working with senior technical stakeholders and influencing without direct authority
- Able to analyse engineering data and translate it into clear, actionable insights
- Strong communication skills, able to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
Nice to Have
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in engineering coordination, engineering enablement, or transformation roles
- Familiarity with engineering maturity models, standards, and modern infrastructure or platform environments
