Your local British Red Cross shop has a variety of activities available for volunteers. From sorting stock and preparing donated items for sale to providing great customer service, we have something to suit most people’s interests. Our shop is a great place to learn new skills and share existing ones.

General Assistant Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to help in our shop. Activities include helping behind the scenes in sorting and preparing donated stock, preparing attractive displays on the shop floor, and more.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Checking the quality of items donated and preparing them for sale or recycling
  • Ironing, cleaning, labelling and pricing items ready for sale
  • Keeping the shop well organised and tidy
  • General activities around the shop

No experience is needed. Full training will be provided. In this role there is no expectation to use a till or computer.

Volunteering Schedule

Volunteer a few hours a week, during the week or weekend, as agreed with the shop manager. There is no minimum commitment or fixed hours. We ask that you agree on hours you can attend and let us know if they change.
