Your local British Red Cross shop has a variety of activities available for volunteers to support us in. From sorting stock & preparing donated items for sale to providing great customer service to our donors and customers – we have something to suit most people’s interests. Our shop is a great place to learn new skills and share existing ones. We are currently looking for General Assistant volunteers to help us in our shop. Activities available include helping behind the scenes in sorting and preparing donated stock as well as preparing attractive displays on the shop floor – and many more.
Typical Responsibilities
- Check the quality of items donated and prepare them for sale or recycling.
- Iron, clean, label and price items ready for sale.
- Keep the shop well organised and tidy.
- Assist with general shop activities such as setting up displays and moving stock.
No experience is needed – full training will be provided. There is no expectation to use a till or computer in this volunteering role.
When can I volunteer?
A few hours during the week or weekend, as agreed with the shop manager. There is no minimum commitment or fixed hours; we only ask that you agree on hours you can attend and inform us of any changes.
