Our Young Refugee Project Volunteers work with vulnerable young refugees who are children and young people aged 16-25 seeking safety in the UK. The role will be based at the British Red Cross office in Sheffield and in the community.
Volunteer requirements:
- Be available to volunteer on a regular basis.
- Must be available Mondays from 3pm to 7pm and either Tuesday or Thursday from 10am to 4pm.
- Ideally, you can be flexible during school holidays to assist with extra activities.
- Be able to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 6 months.
- Have a good standard of English and preferably be able to speak Arabic or Somali.
- Experience in youth work or group work is desirable.
- Must have good IT skills e.g. using Microsoft Office suite.
- We would be particularly interested to hear from you if you are (or have been) an asylum seeker or refugee.
- Due to the nature of this role, applicants must undergo a criminal record check.
- Knowledge of a foreign language would be helpful (particularly one used in the current local refugee population).
- Keep the people we support at the heart of what you do.
- Willing to complete a criminal record check.
