Community Education delivers free educational workshops to groups of young people and adults across the UK to help increase community resilience.

We would like you to:

  • Be able to volunteer on a regular basis.
  • Contribute a minimum of 8 hours per month, with flexibility in availability (workshops usually run on weekdays between 9am and 5pm, with occasional opportunities in the evenings or at weekends).
  • Commit to volunteering for at least 12 months.
  • Be willing to undertake all the required training for the role.
  • Be willing to travel to workshop venues in your community independently.

Due to the nature of this role, applicants must undergo a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. Applicants will be asked to provide ID documents in support of the DBS check.

To support even more people, we require the help of our volunteers who know their local communities. Together, we can help enable positive outcomes for people impacted by adversity. This is a wonderful opportunity to act on our shared values as a representative of the British Red Cross in your local community and play your part in helping build the next generation of humanitarians.

What you will be doing:

  • Facilitate face-to-face or online workshops to groups of young people or adults, on a range of humanitarian topics to help strengthen your community.
  • Help promote our work within your community so that more people may benefit from our education offer.

The skills you need:

  • Passionate about exploring humanitarian issues and values.
  • Believe in the importance of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Responsible, organised, reliable, and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ideally, you will have a reasonable level of IT literacy and access to suitable IT equipment and internet connection. (There is no expectation to deliver both face-to-face and digital workshops. You may choose either or both.)
