Our shop is a great place to learn new skills and share existing ones. We are currently looking for Stockroom Coordinator volunteers. If you are organised and interested in supporting us in our stockroom, then this may be for you!

  • Unpacking and sorting donated items.
  • Identifying and recording Gift Aid stock for sale.
  • Keeping the stockroom clean and safe.
  • Supporting other stockroom volunteers.
  • Other general activities as required.

When can I volunteer?

A few hours during the week/weekend - as agreed with the shop manager. There is no minimum commitment or fixed hours, we only ask that we agree hours you are confident you can attend and that you let us know where these hours may change.

Diversity is something we celebrate. We want you to be able to bring your authentic self to the Red Cross and feel that you belong. We want to create an inclusive environment, and promote and spread the power of kindness.

As part of creating an inclusive space we have an expenses policy that prioritises volunteers not being out of pocket for expenses linked to your role. If up front costs are difficult, you can speak to your volunteering manager about this to find alternatives. We welcome refugees, asylum seekers and others currently in the UK to volunteer with us. We want volunteering to be accessible to everyone.

Health and Safety Statement:

We take an individual approach to ensuring your safety. We may ask you to complete a simple risk assessment and will also have a conversation with you to discuss and identify any adjustments you may need. As we take great care to ensure that all our volunteers are safe and supported, there may be some locations where we won’t be able to host 15-17 year olds. Please get in touch so that we can help you find a suitable volunteering opportunity.

No two days in our shops are ever the same. From the exciting donations that come through our door, to the wonderful customers who shop with us, our shops are ever changing. But one thing that never changes is that we need volunteers to help us to spread the power of kindness.

The skills you need:

  • No previous experience is needed.
  • A warm smile and a friendly outlook.
  • Complete training (provided) prior to starting.

What's in it for you:

  • Gain or pass on retail experience.
  • A great opportunity to use your existing skills or gain new ones.
  • Reasonable pre-agreed travel expenses for the role including for attending training.
