Your local British Red Cross shop has a variety of activities available for volunteers to support us in. From sorting stock and preparing donated items for sale to providing great customer service to our donors and customers, we have something to suit most people’s interests. Our shop is a great place to learn new skills and share existing ones. We are currently looking for General Assistant volunteers to help us in our shop.

Activities include:

  • Helping behind the scenes in sorting and preparing donated stock
  • Preparing attractive displays on the shop floor
  • Creating exciting window displays
  • Sorting donations for sale
  • Meeting new people
  • Checking the quality of donated items and preparing them for sale or recycling
  • Ironing, cleaning, labelling and pricing items ready for sale
  • Keeping the shop well organised and tidy
  • General activities around the shop

The skills you need:

Hours: A few hours during the week or weekend – as agreed with the shop manager. There is no minimum commitment or fixed hours; we only ask that we agree on hours you are confident you can attend and that you let us know where these hours may change.
