An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Rights Manager to join a leading, internationally active theatre production company. This role plays a critical part in supporting the development and delivery of major productions in the UK and worldwide. You will provide expert rights management, legal, and commercial support across a diverse slate of projects. The position offers close collaboration with senior creative, production, and commercial stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, secure, and manage underlying rights and intellectual property for plays, musicals, and adaptations
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with writers, composers, directors, and rights holders
  • Monitor rights timelines, options, renewals, extensions, and expiries across multiple productions
  • Provide legal and commercial advice on intellectual property, contract law, and risk management
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure best practice in rights administration and confidentiality

The Candidate

  • Proven experience in rights management, business affairs, or legal affairs (within the theatre or live entertainment industry would be advantageous)
  • Legally qualified, with strong hands-on experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to interpret complex financial and royalty structures
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build strong relationships across creative and commercial teams
