OUR MISSION To become the car-changing destination of choice. By combining technology, media and deep automotive expertise, we've turned how people buy, sell, advertise and lease cars on its head. What started as a simple reviews site is now one of the largest online car-changing destinations in Europe. Last year alone we grew over 50% with nearly 3bn worth of cars bought on site, while 1.8bn of cars were listed for sale through our Sell My Car service. In 2024 we went big and acquired Autovia - creators of AutoExpress and Evo magazines - doubling our audience overnight. Together we now have one of the biggest YouTube channels in the world with almost 10m subscribers and over 1.1 billion annual views, while we sell 1.2 million print copies of our magazines and have an annual web content reach over 350 million.
THE ROLE Changing your car should feel like one seamless journey, not a series of disconnected tasks. Right now it's the opposite: people value their car in one place, search for the next one in another, and manage the handover somewhere else, much of it on the web and most of it forgotten between car changes. If we can give people a reason to open Carwow between car changes, understand what they drive and what they want next, and make the moment of changing effortless, the app becomes the place UK drivers start. This role is the product voice at the table for that: setting the direction for what we build and working day to day with design and engineering to build it.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Product Strategy & Execution: Set the product direction for the Carwow consumer app, defining what we build, in what order, and why. Lead discovery work with consumers: interviews, usage data, behavioural analysis, to build a precise understanding of where the app can add the most value. Identify, prototype and ship opportunities to bring AI into the app: smarter discovery, personalisation and recommendations that actually change behaviour. Collaborate with the Engineering Manager, Designer and Engineers as a product trio to ship well-scoped solutions with clear success metrics. Manage the backlog with commercial awareness, prioritising work that drives engagement, retention and revenue, not just activity.
- Design & Engineering Partnership: Work shoulder to shoulder with design to shape journeys and screens from the ground up, and test them with users before engineering starts. Work with engineers on the right trade-offs for a native app: release cadence, quality and what to build versus reuse. Use AI tools every day in your own work, prototyping, synthesising research and analysing data, so the squad learns faster and ships more.
- Cross-functional Leadership: Work across product, engineering, data, CRM and marketing to align on priorities and ship coherently. Communicate strategy and trade-offs clearly to leadership and stakeholders, written as well as verbal. Own the app's success measures and bring clean evidence, including holdouts and controlled tests, to decisions on what to scale, change or stop.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years of product management experience, including time owning a consumer mobile app, with evidence of improving engagement or retention metrics.
- Hands-on experience with product discovery: you run your own interviews, interrogate your own data, and form your own hypotheses rather than waiting for research to land in your inbox.
- AI-native: you use AI tools daily, you have shipped or prototyped AI-powered features, and you have a clear point of view on where it adds real value for consumers.
- Comfort with ambiguity: this role involves defining the problem as much as solving it, and the scope will evolve as evidence comes in.
- A proven partnership with design and engineering: you have worked as a product trio and can hold a credible conversation about journeys, architecture and app quality.
- Clear written and verbal communication; you can explain a complex trade-off simply and bring people with you.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience in automotive, marketplace or two-sided consumer products.
- Familiarity with habit loops and engagement design in a consumer app: push, onboarding, personalisation.
- Background in scale-up or high-growth environments.
- Experience taking new products to market, including GTM planning and launch.
INTERVIEW PROCESS
- Step 1: Talent Screening Call (25 min)
- Step 2: Hiring Manager Call: Experience (30 min)

- Step 4: Values Interview (45 min)
