Overview
As Senior Privacy Counsel, you will be Carwow’s in-house privacy lead, shaping and operating the privacy programme to enable rapid growth with integrity. You’ll partner with Product, Engineering, Data, Marketing and Commercial teams to embed privacy by design and navigate multi‑jurisdictional requirements. You’ll own governance, risk management and data protection advice at pace, driving responsible innovation. This is a high-impact, cross‑functional role in a fast‑growing marketplace.

Responsibilities
- Own and maintain Carwow’s enterprise privacy governance framework, including policies, ropas, notices, risk registers and retention schedules
- Act as principal in-house advisor on privacy and data protection, partnering across Marketing, Product, Engineering and Data
- Design and deliver role-specific privacy training that is practical and business-focused
- Lead privacy aspects of data breach and incident response, coordinating with external DPO and regulators
- Draft, review and negotiate DPAs/DSAs and data sharing provisions for commercial arrangements
- Own processes for data subject rights requests and advise on complex requests
- Provide privacy support for Retail Media, Ad Tech and data sharing in commercial propositions
- Collaborate with Data, IT, Engineering and Product to embed Privacy by Design across the product lifecycle
- Operationalise core privacy compliance processes (DPIAs, LiAs, data-sharing assessments)
- Monitor regulatory developments and translate into practical changes to products and processes
- Support privacy due diligence and remediation in corporate transactions
- Advise on AI privacy implications and governance in emerging tech
- Support multi-jurisdictional needs across UK, Germany, Spain and Portugal
Key requirements
- Qualified lawyer admitted in England & Wales or other UK/European jurisdiction
- Significant in-house privacy experience balancing legal and commercial objectives
- Strong knowledge of UK and EU data protection laws and practical advisory ability
- Experience building or materially contributing to a privacy programme (DPIAs, RoPAs, notices, data rights, retention, governance)
- Ability to work autonomously as principal privacy specialist with hands-on delivery
- Interest in AI and privacy with ability to enable responsible technology adoption
- Team player with growth mindset, high EQ, low ego, and ability to influence across functions
- Fluency in English with strong communication skills
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and engage senior stakeholders
