Carvers Hill Estate Vineyard & Winery is an eminent enterprise producing world-class wine in Wiltshire, located in the idyllic conservation area of the North Wessex Downs. Nestled just outside Shalbourne village, near Hungerford, the vineyard and state-of-the-art winery are enhanced by an HMRC approved, professional on-site fine wine bonded storage facility dedicated to private client storage. The build is nearing completion and will open in September 2026.

Our team are a talented group who have brought to life this project. Carvers Hill Estate is owned by the Griffiths family, whose endeavours in Bordeaux provided the ideal backdrop to establish Wiltshire's first winery. Our team is growing and we are looking for a new team member to help us develop the bonded warehouse business.

Role Summary: Fine Wine Bonded Warehouse

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Warehouse Lead to carry out the day-to-day operation of our dedicated bonded warehouse serving a high-value fine wine client base. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong warehouse leadership experience, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to operational excellence, compliance, and customer service. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient running of the warehouse while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily warehouse activities including goods receiving, storage, picking, dispatch, and stock transfers.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and warehouse system updates.
  • Carry out product condition checks, photography, and counterfeit verification.
  • Apply import labels for duty-paid UK deliveries where required.
  • Support bespoke customer requirements including gift packing, export preparation, and specialist handling instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.

Compliance & Stock Control

  • Ensure full compliance with HMRC bonded warehouse regulations and movement documentation requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain CCTV systems and archive sensitive operational footage.
  • Support stock control activities including cycle counts, reconciliations, and investigations.
  • Ensure all warehouse records, labels, and documentation meet regulatory and internal standards.
  • Maintain temperature and humidity monitoring systems and ensure data is recorded appropriately.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to warehouse operatives.
  • Promote high standards of professionalism, teamwork, and safety.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and development of team members.
  • Allocate resources effectively to support fluctuating workloads and peak periods.

Communication & Supplier Coordination

  • Liaise with merchants, bonded warehouses, couriers, freight shippers, and delivery drivers.
  • Arrange booking slots for deliveries and receipting with UK merchants and warehouse partners.
  • Provide clear updates on operational progress, issues, and delays when required.

Health & Safety

  • Promote and enforce safe working practices at all times.
  • Ensure warehouse equipment, racking, and forklifts are maintained and fit for purpose.
  • Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience within a warehouse environment.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations and stock control procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lead and support colleagues effectively.
  • Basic IT skills and experience using warehouse management systems.
  • Valid forklift licence.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a bonded warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge or experience of fine wines or luxury goods handling.
  • Previous experience in a lead, senior, or key-holder warehouse role.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification.
