We're looking for a skilled and self-motivated Mobile Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic or Mobile Heavy Duty Diesel Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of diesel engines and heavy equipment at Carvana locations. What you’ll be doing
- Travel to designated locations to perform mobile diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and other diesel-powered machinery.
- Providing Fleet Maintenance services for our ever-growing fleet of car-hauling equipment.
- Diagnose and repair issues related to engines, transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, brakes, and other components.
- Conduct preventative maintenance, electrical/mechanical diagnostics, and mechanical repair.
- Utilize diagnostic software and tools to identify and resolve complex mechanical and electrical problems.
- Maintain accurate service records, documenting all repairs, parts used, and hours worked.
- Communicate effectively to explain repairs, provide estimates, and ensure satisfaction.
- Manage and maintain a clean and organized service vehicle, ensuring all necessary tools and parts are stocked.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Provide exceptional service and represent the company professionally at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you should know
- Our top technicians have extensive knowledge in both Electrical and Mechanical Diagnostics.
- Preventative Maintenance is a priority, but the ideal candidate should be knowledgeable and proficient in troubleshooting and repair of: HVAC, Braking systems and wheel end components, Engine systems, Emissions and Aftertreatment, and Electrical.
- This is a mobile technician; travel is required 100% of the time.
What you should have
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or certificate in diesel technology, heavy equipment repair, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years experience as a diesel technician, preferably with mobile service experience.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
- Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a mobile environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Parts and Service management with TMT and TMW.
- DiagnosticLINK for DD13 motor diagnostics.
- ToolBox for Wabco Air systems.
- Service Ranger for Eaton Transmission Diagnostics.
- Tools like JPRO or other universal or band specific equipment for electrical diagnostics.
