Role and Team

As a Mechanic Tech in our high production mechanic shop, you will support the mechanic shop by performing assigned diagnostic repair or maintenance on customer vehicles. This position reports to the Mechanic Shop or designated manager.

Responsibilities

  • A/C, Heater & Refrigeration - Flush system contaminants, evacuate system, add oil and charge with freon. Run OEM performance tests and verify performance, utilize electrical schematics, identify, and correct related problems.
  • Brakes - Diagnose brake problems, replace cylinders and calipers, perform failure analysis of components.
  • Electrical Charging Systems - Perform full diagnostic, including in-depth analysis and corrections.
  • Clutch - Perform failure analysis for premature or abuse.
  • Cooling Systems - Check and adjust coolant levels, visually inspect system for leaks, make minor repairs such as hose replacements.
  • Starting/Cranking System - Analyze to identify root cause.
  • Lighting system and Electrical Accessories - Evaluate lighting system configuration and application.
  • Drive Axles - Inspect housing for leaks, perform diagnostics and major repairs as required.
  • Transmission and Driveline - Lubricate, perform diagnostics, fluid and filter changes and major repairs or replacement as required.
  • All Engines - Check and adjust oil level, identify unusual noises and oil leaks.
  • Fuel Systems - Diagnose all fuel system malfunctions, adjust fuel system components.
  • Electrical Systems - Perform diagnostics of electrical systems utilizing wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Preventative Maintenance – Full fault code identification and service interval reset.
  • Steering and Alignment – Diagnose and repair steering.
  • Suspension-Chassis and Cab - Diagnose suspension noises and alignment concerns.
  • Tire and wheel maintenance - Repair and replace tires, wheels and TPMS components.
  • Assist in overall general shop duties such as cleaning, driving, organizing vehicle parking and staging.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to internal and external customers.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and neat work environment.
  • Practice and promote teamwork at all times.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in automotive repair field
  • Proficient diagnostic skills
  • ASE Certifications preferred but not required
  • Proficient in brake, tire and wheel, a/c, battery charge and check
  • Basic computer skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Hardworking, motivated team player
  • Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license that meets the requirements
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance

Other Requirements

The physical activity requirements of the position range from Light to Medium Physical Work. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision comparable to definitions for Clerical, Administrative, Machine Operators positions. Constant – standing, watching, touching, listening, walking, reaching, grasping, stooping, repetitive motion, pulling, balancing, kneeling, crouching, pushing, lifting. Frequent - talking, climbing. Potential – running, jumping, yelling or other rapid or forceful movement in emergency situations.

Physical Working Conditions: This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental working conditions, including temperature changes, outside weather conditions, slightly elevated ambient noise levels, and minor atmospheric conditions affecting skin or respiratory systems.
