Full‑time Hybrid (3 days minimum in office)

The role

You’ll be responsible for line management, delivery, engineering quality, and the quality of the product your team ships. You’ll work directly with the CTO and help shape how engineering operates as Carv scales.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and develop a team of engineers across Android, iOS, Rust, and backend, with full ownership of line management, performance, growth, and hiring.
• Partner with Product and the CTO to turn priorities into clear plans, manage trade‑offs, and deliver high‑quality outcomes.
• Own the quality of the product your team ships, including real‑world validation on snow through direct ski testing or close collaboration with others.
• Work with senior engineers on architecture, technical direction, quality, and execution standards.
• Help the team get real leverage from AI by combining strong usage with clear workflows, review standards, testing, and structure.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience managing strong engineers in a startup or scale‑up, with the technical judgment to guide decisions and earn trust.
• Hands‑on engineering experience shipping code to production in a fast‑paced company, with enough depth to understand trade‑offs, review technical decisions, and credibly support the team.
• Strong product instinct and a sharp eye for quality, including real‑world validation of the customer experience.
• Clear, direct communication style with a strong ability to build accountability and handle performance well.
• Strong AI fluency, high standards, and a bias for action.

This means working across mobile, backend, AI, data, and hardware systems, and making sure the product performs in the real world, on the mountain, in the moment. In practical terms, this means working directly with the CTO to improve how engineering operates, raise the quality bar, strengthen technical decision‑making, and help strong engineers do their best work. The engineering culture, team structure, development processes, and AI‑first ways of working are all open to be shaped. This is a leadership role with genuine scope to define how Carv builds software as we scale through one of the most consequential points in the company’s trajectory.
