We are seeking an experienced and practical Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop and improve specialist machinery and equipment.

You will take ownership of projects from concept through to CAD, manufacture and installation, working closely with engineering, production, suppliers and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical components, assemblies and machinery.
  • Produce detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
  • Develop designs for manufacture, assembly, installation and service.
  • Create accurate Bills of Materials and engineering documentation.
  • Support production, installation and commissioning with technical solutions.
  • Improve existing products through value engineering and design optimisation.
  • Contribute to new product development and R&D.
  • Work with suppliers on components, materials and manufacturing requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, manufacturability and cost.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical problem-solving.

Experience Required

  • Engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven mechanical design experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong 3D CAD and engineering drawing skills.
  • Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience designing components and assemblies for manufacture.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid Works experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience with machinery, capital equipment, sheet metal, fabrication, pneumatics or automation would be beneficial.
