Controls Engineer – Industrial Automation £60,000 Commutable from Leicester, Hinckley, Coventry, Nuneaton, Rugby and surrounding areas We are looking for an experienced Controls Engineer to join an established control systems engineering team specialising in the design, development and commissioning of bespoke industrial machinery and automation systems. This is a hands-on, project-driven role where you will be responsible for developing PLC, HMI and safety software from first principles, through to testing, commissioning and customer handover. Key Responsibilities * Design and develop PLC control software for Siemens TIA Portal/S7 and/or Rockwell Studio 5000 systems * Write PLC software from first principles for bespoke industrial machinery and automation projects * Develop, test and validate safety-related control software * Configure and commission VFDs, servo drives, motion systems, fieldbus networks and remote I/O * Work with industrial communication networks including Profinet, Profibus and EtherNet/IP * Read and interpret electrical drawings, I/O schedules and functional specifications * Carry out control-system and electrical fault finding during build, testing and commissioning * Produce and maintain technical documentation including FDS, test documentation, commissioning notes and O&M information * Work closely with project managers, electrical designers, panel builders, installation and commissioning teams * Commission automated machinery at customer sites, including occasional overnight stays and weekend work where required Key Skills & Experience * Experience developing PLC software from first principles within an industrial automation or machinery environment * Strong PLC programming experience with Siemens TIA Portal/S7 and/or Rockwell Studio 5000 * Experience developing and commissioning safety-related control software * Full UK driving licence * Existing right to work in the UK — visa sponsorship is not available for this position If you are an experienced Controls Engineer with strong PLC programming and industrial automation experience, this is an excellent opportunity to join an established engineering business working on varied and technically interesting projects
