We are looking for a Junior Control Systems Engineer to join a growing automation and robotics team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is looking to develop hands-on experience in designing, programming, and commissioning control systems for bespoke machinery.
You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, supporting the development of control solutions for automated and robotic systems, including PLC programming, HMI development, and integration with mechanical and electrical systems. You will work closely with experienced engineers across design, build, and commissioning to deliver high-quality automation solutions.
Typical projects include:
- Automated assembly and production machines
- Robotic pick-and-place systems
- Vision inspection and automated quality control systems
- Material handling and manufacturing cells across industries such as pharmaceutical, automotive, and general engineering
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing PLC programs and configuring HMIs for automation systems
- Support the design of control sequences for robotic and automated machinery
- Help integrate control systems with mechanical and electrical components
- Support testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities on-site and in the workshop
- Review customer specifications and assist in developing practical control solutions
- Work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time
Key Skills & Experience
- Some experience or exposure to control systems engineering (placement, apprenticeship, graduate, or junior level)
- Understanding of PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar)
- Basic HMI design or configuration experience (training can be provided)
- Interest in automation, robotics, and industrial control systems
- Good problem-solving and communication skills
- Willingness to learn and develop in a hands-on engineering environment
- Practical, proactive approach with strong teamwork ability
This role is ideal for someone at the beginning of their controls engineering career who is keen to build strong technical capability within a supportive, experienced team. Full training and development will be provided.
