Cartesian’s Managed Solutions unit provides industry leading solutions to Tier 1 and 2 telecoms operators. Cartesian is looking for talented graduates with experience of technical implementation to expand our delivery, support and operations team. Ideally you will have completed an industrial placement as part of your technical degree, and/or have 1-2 years’ experience in a technical role post-graduation. You will need to be proactive, creative and flexible, interested in technically challenging work and able to learn quickly. You must be an excellent problem-solver and prepared to take ownership of your implementation and support activities from creation through testing to deployment. As a customer facing role, excellent communication skills are a must.
A key task will be configuring and extending supporting the configuration of Cartesian’s own Ascertain platform using SQL, PL/SQL, Java and scripting (Bash, Perl, Python) in a Linux environment. Our applications are data intensive and therefore a very good knowledge of SQL and underlying database technologies is essential. Experience of AWS services will be beneficial.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline e.g. Computer Science
- 1+ years’ experience in relevant technical delivery/support function (this may be via an industrial placement or post-graduate employment)
- Strong relational database skills; good SQL knowledge
- Exposure to Java and Python
- Knowledge of Linux shell scripting
- Understanding of the software delivery lifecycle (SDLC)
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to analyse data logically and exercise sound judgment in defining, evaluating, and solving difficult technical and operational problems effectively and pragmatically
- Excellent self-organisational skills and especially time management
- The ability to work in a small team, or individually, to take an issue to resolution
- An aptitude for quality work and ability to achieve a high level of 'finish'
- Ability to present themselves and Cartesian professionally in all work-related situations
- Authorised to work within the UK.
