Carter Rolan Group is currently recruiting for a number of Senior Structural Engineers working in and around London. This role is paying a negotiable salary of £55-70k + excellent benefits including private healthcare, generous pension, professional membership reimbursement, employee reward program and much more.
You will be responsible for working with a team of structural engineering specialists and fire safety professionals to provide fire safety and structural safety engineering support within the built environment. You will also be responsible for carrying out forensic investigations of current buildings to reverse engineer and assess all issues. You will be undertaking structural risk assessments, writing summaries of existing structural engineering information, supporting with the development of building safety case reports, conducting site inspections and providing reports, reviewing systematic risk assessments under requirement A3 of the Building Regulations, interpreting data from external wall investigations, project monitoring, application of relevant regulations, guidance and best practice to ensure structural safety in buildings.
What you will need to succeed in this role:
- BSc / BEng / MSc / MEng in Structural Engineering or relevant subject
- Member of a relevant institution, such as the IStructE, ICE
- Ideally Chartered or working towards Chartership
- Experience within a Structural Engineering Consultancy, delivering services such as:
- Structural scheme design
- Optioneering and justification of structural options
- Knowledge of typical disproportionate collapse solutions and associated detail drawings
- Main point of contact in multi-million-pound projects, ideally residential
- Extensive knowledge of structural refurbishment works and major extensions
- Extensive knowledge in appraisal of existing structures experience
- Structural Risk Assessment
- Understanding of the Building Safety Act, including the Gateway 2 & 3 process
- A sound knowledge of all structural safety and engineering guidance and latest structural engineering standards, particularly regarding the residential sector:
- Eurocodes, including EC1-1-7
- British Standards, including BS8110, BS5950, BS5268, BS5628, and an appreciation of BS 7974 PD 1, PD 3, PD 7
