We’re partnering with a fast-growing UK manufacturing business in the FMCG and consumer goods sector, seeking a Manufacturing Engineering (director level) to drive operational performance across multiple sites. This is a pivotal, senior leadership role within a SME, group owned business. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for manufacturing, engineering, and operations, ensuring reliability, productivity, and continuous improvement across the group.

The Role:

  • Lead and develop the manufacturing and engineering functions, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality across all production operations.
  • Deliver world-class operational performance through robust process control, preventative maintenance, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Oversee capital investment projects, asset management, and technical upgrades across multiple production sites.
  • Champion lean manufacturing, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align engineering and production performance with overall business strategy.
  • Develop, mentor, and motivate multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a culture of accountability and operational excellence.

About You:

  • A qualified Engineer (mechanical, electrical or manufacturing discipline).
  • Proven experience in leading manufacturing and engineering functions, ideally within FMCG, consumer goods, or packaging environments.
  • Highly hands-on leader, visible on the shop floor and deeply involved in technical and operational problem-solving.
  • Strong track record in improving plant reliability, OEE, and cost control.
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to link operational metrics to business performance.
  • Excellent people leader, capable of building strong, motivated, and technically capable teams.
