Maintenance Engineer – FMCG Manufacturing Location: Birmingham (On-site) Shift-based | Permanent We are working with a well-established FMCG manufacturing site seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to support production-critical operations in a fast-paced environment. This role is highly reactive and operational. You’ll be responsible for responding to breakdowns during production, identifying root cause, and restoring equipment quickly to minimise downtime. Outside of production hours, you’ll carry out planned preventative maintenance to ensure all lines operate at base condition. Working closely with Production, Line Supervisors and Team Leaders, you’ll play a key role in maintaining strong communication, driving continuous improvement, and upholding high standards across safety, quality, and compliance. Key Responsibilities Respond to and resolve machinery breakdowns, carrying out root cause analysis Complete reactive and preventative maintenance tasks Log all maintenance activity accurately and follow defect/BDA processes Escalate extended downtime and support daily engineering reviews Support 5S, GMP, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives Maintain tools, work areas, and documentation to audit-ready standards About You Electrically or mechanically qualified (or equivalent experience) Hands-on maintenance engineer used to fast-paced production environments Comfortable working on breakdowns and PPMs Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills Able to work calmly under pressure and communicate effectively FMCG or high-speed manufacturing experience highly desirable This is a great opportunity to join a site where engineering plays a critical role in performance, quality, and reliability.
